Everything is beginning to fall into place, and we are heading into the final push to get the practical preparations finished on site. Alongside good company and relaxed time together, here are some things to look forward to:
● Make fishing line from horsehair.
● Make cordage from natural materials.
● Make the gauge and netting needle used for making nets.
● Tie nets.
● Learn about the history, construction and parts of a net.
● Spend time with the knowledgeable people from Bushcraft Sverige.
● Basket-weaving corner: watch a basket take shape and sit with the instructors.
● Learn the basics of weaving with materials such as willow and hazel.
● Learn to identify plants and animals using identification keys. Identify animals, plants, birds and insects around the site during the weekend.
● Flint knapping: strike flakes that can be used as cutting edges.
● Cooking over an open fire: simple ways to cook outdoors on a trip.
● Hiking in beautiful Kinnekulle.
● Traps: learn to make effective traps historically used to catch animals.
● Talks on survival, search and rescue, and building the confidence to get outdoors more, for example on hikes.
● Tattooing: see how tattoos were made without machines. You can also take home a lasting memory with a tattoo of your own.
● Canoeing: learn basic paddle strokes and what to do if you end up in the water.
● Workshop Weekend Market: for one hour, we will hold a traditional bazaar where outdoor-related items can be given away, swapped or sold.
