Description

Tobias Karlsson has taught many courses in emergency preparedness, crisis communication, household preparedness, first aid and outdoor safety. He has also trained members of the Voluntary Resource Group (FRG), which supports municipalities during prolonged disruptions. He has worked in real emergency responses, including the 2014 Västmanland wildfire and flooding.

During the day, we will show how useful some bushcraft skills can be in an emergency. Bushcraft is used as a teaching tool that you can then use yourself, encouraging others to practise preparedness in an enjoyable way, perhaps without even realising it.

We will cover the needs we must meet and practical ways to do so: warmth, water, food, sleep, information and a sense of security; common reactions to a crisis; outdoor equipment that is also useful in an urban setting; first aid (L ABC) and equipment to carry and keep at home; terminology and crisis communication; and what to consider or do when you get home.

We will also prepare lunch together using ingredients suitable for hiking or keeping in the pantry.
